We’re ready to go– the first Windows version of Democracy Player (formerly DTV) is now available on our new website Get Democracy. This is version 0.8, still a beta, and it’s got some known bugs. But it’s pretty fun and we’re working on bug fixes. The Mac version was also updated today to 0.8.

The Mac and Windows versions now offers two cool new features: 1. Built-in web video search: you can use Yahoo Video or Blogdigger, and 2. Video Bomb support: you can click on a bomb link on any video you’ve downloaded to either bomb it or, if it hasn’t been submitted yet, submit it to Video Bomb (currently we open your browser to bomb, but tighter integration is on the way soon).

The Mac version also has a nice feature that Windows version doesn’t have yet: pause, fast forward, rewind controls when you’re in fullscreen mode. It looks really nice.

Now that we have an initial Windows version out the door, we are really cruising, both on a software development level and on a user level. On the software front, there were some big barriers along the road to a Windows version that slowed us down for a while. With a good foundation, we’re ready to get rid of the big bugs and then start adding more features. On a user front, we finally have something to offer the 90% of people that use Windows. Since we have a social mission, that means we can really begin our outreach and our efforts to build a community of users.

Finally, a big thanks to everyone that’s helped us get this far, you have been awesome. And thank you also to all those Windows users who were very patient while our release got pushed back and back. We’re, personally, really excited to reach one of our big goals today.

OK, now check out our new website: Get Democracy.

Wonderful to see DTV at last, I have been looking forward to making it an integral part of my web efforts.
Item – DTV: Submit a channel isn’t working, for me anyway.

Item – Broadcast Machine: The how to update Broadcast machine link on our site wasn’t working a moment ago.

I am sure its just a little hiccup.
Wonderful to see it all coming together – Cheers and Best Wishes – Gomni

I installed Democracy for Windows three hours ago and spent most of the evening browsing and finding some cool channels. Apart from a few annoyances Democracy is just great and I can’t wait for a Linux version. Thanks, this is fun! :)
