Our friends at Rocketboom and MoveDigital have teamed up to offer a high-definition version of Rocketboom. It looks *amazing* and it’s a great example of what Democracy Player can do. If you watch Rocketboom every day, why watch it on the website, where the quality is low and you have to wait for it to load? Instead, subscribe to the HD version and let Democracy download it while you’re sleeping.
Even if you don’t watch Rocketboom, you should take a look at what HD Internet TV can look like:
Update: Rocketboom has added a Democracy 1-Click subscribe link to their site, pointing to the HD channel. Take a look, it’s linked to the word ‘democracy’: Rocketboom.com.
Just 6 days after we offered a bounty for creating a Universal Binary of Democracy Player (meaning, a single mac app that runs natively on both PPC macs and new intel macs) it has been finished! We no longer have separate downloads for the Intel version and the PPC version.
Mac users can download it here: Democracy Player OSX – Universal Binary – 0.8.5.3. This version also has some small bug fixes from 0.8.5.
Congratulations to Jan Gerber from Berlin, who has earned the $500 bounty. Thanks!
Another update: we are about halfway through our development cycle for version 0.9.0, and there is exciting stuff on the way: playlists, folders, drag and drop, lots of UI improvements, and more speed increases. If you want to help us test these new features, sign up on the testers email list and we’ll let you know when we have a testing build.
Since we launched the Democracy 1-Click subscribe buttons last week, lots of channels are putting them up on their websites. Here’s a few to try.
VH1′s Best Week Ever (in the sidebar)
Island 94 (in the sidebar)
This Week in Tech’s Mac Break (in the drop down menu)
High Flow Hip-Hop (in the blog post)
Crush TV (in the sidebar)
