Video Bomb in stable condition (we hope)

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

We’ve had some very annoying intermittent server problems with Video Bomb. We’ve just moved it to a new server and it should be much more reliable. Sorry for the annoyance.

There’s a lot we want to do with video (including some better anti-spam measures) but our developers are all tied up for the moment. Hopefully, we’ll get back to it very soon.

Which 3 Video Feeds Would You Share?

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

If you could share your 3 favorite video feeds with the world, what would they be?

Feed Name: http://feed.com/rss/

Also, feel free to share your favorite resources for finding new feeds (i.e. aggregators, lists, blogs, etc.).

StumbleUpon

Friday, December 22nd, 2006

I just noticed that over the past couple weeks, almost 20% of the traffic to getmiro.com has come from people using StumbleUpon. That’s a lot and I’m psyched about it for (at least) three reasons:

1. StumbleUpon is all about people marking sites they like and suggesting them to each other. That means lots of people are happy with Democracy Player. That makes me happy.

2. I am a StumbleUpon user and so I’m psyched that other users are into what we’re doing. What I especially like about SU is that it has such a radically simple and elegant approach to bubbling up stuff that you’ll be interested in.

3. I have some ideas about how Democracy Player and StumbleUpon might be able to work together directly and if SU users like what we’re doing, maybe we should pursue some of those ideas…

Most Common Bugs

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

Janet has been getting our bug tracker into shape and she’s put together a list of the most common bugs that people are reporting in Democracy Player 0.9.2. Most of these are somewhat difficult to track down, which is why they haven’t been fixed already. We’ll be tackling on a bunch of them for the next release.

Democracy Player most common bugs.

If you are seeing any of these problems, please feel free to add a comment to the but ticket. Developers– feel free to throw out ideas about how to reproduce or approach some of the more intractable bugs.
