40 languages ?that's really something.
automatic translation is not very good, but still worth to try.

I’m always curious why creators of OSS products, who extole the virtues of the fact that what they do is Open Source and all the benefits that entails. Then choose Rosetta a closed source tranlsation tool when their are OSS equvalents such as Pootle. By following your example I should simply use Windows Media Player or another closed source media app.

Come on guys put your money where your mouth is and use an OSS toolset for all your work.

Caveat: I helped on the initial development of Pootle so my bias would be obvious.

Hey guys, I downloaded the Broadcast Machine and translate it to Spanish, but even more, I created a translation file (language.php) with around 500 variables containing all the sentences used in the webapp. So translators can just work with one file and without creating translation-related bugs.
Please let me know guys if you want the new translatable webapp.

The Mozilla pages for Thunderbird and Firefox are fully translated in many languages, Miss Lear. I fully agree with the principle stated by Juani.

And in the case of Democracy, it is particularly important that the information be available in as many languages as possible, so that users can judge for themselves – and not be taken in by the hype recently spread by people purporting to have “invented interactive television” – though their fully proprietary, Windows-only platform is still in ghostly beta-testing reserved to a limited number of users.

What are you talking about? Too early? Come on! Everyone should be offering content in all languages as possible, especially a project like this.

I think it’s too early to do this. Internationalising a homepage for a project which isn’t already as convincing that everyone should / would want to download it. (I won’t speak of broadband connexions.) I mean, even Mozilla.com is untranslated (or at least is only in the mid of the process of translation).
