Miro Public Preview 2 (0.9.9) Released!

September 4th, 2007 by Nicholas Reville

We have just released a major update to Miro– Public Preview 2 (0.9.9). This version has a ton of bug fixes and a few nice new features. Most notably, we’ve added menus for OPML import and export (our most requested feature!). Also, Miro will now return to the last place you visited in the Miro Guide when you switch away and back. Everyone should upgrade.

I’ve been desperately needing to format and reinstall my WinXP on my computer. The ONLY reason that I’ven’t is because I didn’t want to lose my channel guide and was too lazy to individually copy the feed urls into a text file for the reinstall. I’m VERY happy that the OPML feautre has been added. Now, my only question is will Miro recognize the videos that have already been downloaded once I set my downloads folder to the previous location after the fresh windows install and then the Miro install? Well, I hope it behaves the way I would like it to and does recognize the previous downloads.

    I Love Miro,
    God Bless,

Cheers for some very good software. Support for stage6.divx.com would be nice also. I wish more people would move over to h264-quality video on the net. And since Miro is based on VLC the support for the format is already there. :)

I don’t know if it’s the right place, but I have a bug when a try to open the preferences.

” (AttributeError: ‘GeneralPrefsController’ object has no attribute ‘warnIfDownloadingCheckBox’) ”
I using OS X Tiger, up to date and I didn’t had this problem with the previous version.

I have the same error when I try to open the preferences:

  7. [...] Version 0.9.9 of Miro was just released with numerous bug fixes and it’s one more step toward the ‘real’ version. If you haven’t yet, I suggest trying it out. It’s nice to have video RSS feeds managed automatically, and you can search video sites like You-Tube and Google from within the program and download clips directly. [...]

This Miro software is fantastic and I’ve reccommended the Macmost video podcast look at this, I wonder if I get one of Apple’s own video podcasts on here! I just wanted to sugegst that you enable the delete key for removing selected channels and episodes. Also if I’ve just subscribed to a podcast, I’m not interested in the past 20 or more shows as that is old news. It’s good that they are shown (where available) but there should be the option of selecting them all and deleting thm, or deleting some of them.

  9. I have the same error, too when I try to open the preferences:

AttributeError: ‘GeneralPrefsController’ object has no attribute ‘warnIfDownloadingCheckBox’

    (MacOS X 10.4.10, 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon)

well, if it works at all, instead of blowing up everything, i’ll call that progress.

I just love Miro and use it for all of my vodcasts.
I’m wondering whether if, in a future update, Miro would be able to include a more sophisticated scheduler e.g. download only between 1am and 6am. This would help those who have ISPs with bonus or cheap downloads during off peak periods.
    Thanks again

  13. Stephen says:

Seconded – off-peak downloads are a must if this is going to be part of my everyday media consumption.
