Team Miro Blog & Month of Miro Docs (join us)

Monday, October 29th, 2007

We have a brand new Team Miro blog that will soon join our constellation of blogs at Planet Miro.

Contarc, one of our most dedicated volunteers, writes (original post here):

Hey everybody. Contarc here. I’m one of the members of Team Miro, now leading the documentation team. We are trying to do a major overhaul on the documentation and need your help. We are looking for volunteers who can write articles, and help shape the Miro documentation into something kickin’.

For more on this, join us tomorrow (Tuesday 30th of October) at 4:30EST for our weekly meeting on the chatroom or #miro @ irc.freenode.org. Details on Team Miro are available on our official site. I’ll be posting here on a weekly basis to keep you up to date on the Team Miro progress. See you in the chat!

Please help us test Release Candidates

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Update: I updated the links on this post to rc2. We’ve gotten a few more tweaks in, and really think that this is it!

With the last release candidate testing we have seen a lot of new people helping with the testing and it has been a huge benefit to the project.

We have posted up on our testing builds site and we really need to get some more testing coverage. In particular we need some more testing by Windows users.

Please download release candidate 1 from the testing builds and select the test run from litmus.

New Offering: Miro Co-Branded Players

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

I’m excited to announce our newest offering, co-branded players. We decided to develop a co-branded version of Miro because we get an endless stream of requests for custom players with a few common features, and we finally got tired of turning them down.

We’ve put it all together so that we can now easily offer our partners a co-branded version of Miro that extends their video presence to the desktop in high definition, with Miro’s market leading technology and user experience. We’re also creating the ability to add bells and whistles like advertising and extensions.

The co-branding initiative is currently in private beta with a number of partners. If you’re a provider of premium online video, I’d love to get your feedback on what we’re doing and possibly get you involved in our beta. If you’re interested in learning more, you can reach me at jessep [at] pculture.org or 415-515-3744.

Miro Programmer Job Opening

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

It looks like we may be able to hire a programmer for Miro in the next few weeks. If you are a world-class thinker, analyzer, problem solver, and implementer, please be in touch. Working on Miro is a pretty wonderful job, if I do say so myself. You are welcome to work from home or from our office in Massachusetts– the only requirement is that you kick ass. More info is on our jobs page.
