One needs to persuade the BBC news organisation in the UK to support and (most importantly) use ogg theora. See news.bbc.co.uk.

I can't say what Archive will do -- I've been trying to convince them to add basic RSS feeds to users, categories, searches, etc. (and haven't had any luck yet).

I would download the nightly version of Firefox and start tinkering (check the link to Chris Blizzard's post for info on the nightly).

This is great news.

Any ideas on how sites should think about supporting this?

For example, using our sweet Internet Archive + Drupal integration, we can easily create a page with Flash player + mp4 download link like so:
http://www.wccatv.com/node/13165

Assuming the Archive takes the bull by the horns and derives theora files for everything, what's an elegant way to offer people the option of an in-browser theora player, assuming this won't work for most users? (At least not anytime soon.)
